“Bricklin is a strong willed person in all the best ways. He was strong willed in wanting to wait however long it took to find the right girl for himself. He was strong willed when time, distance and every other obstacle got in the way of him being with the woman of his dreams. He was strong willed when he travelled a far distance to ask the love of his life to be his forever even though he knew it would be a hard road to bring this to fruition. Being strong willed brought him to Claire and being strong willed will be exactly what makes him a great husband. Bricklin wants nothing more than to make Claire happy, to give her the best life, to cherish her as a choice daughter of our Heavenly Father and to give her all that he is. Because he is strong willed, he will never give up on making her the happiest and luckiest woman in the world. ”

“Claire grew up by the book. A God fearing person and a law abiding citizen. She wants everything to be in order. She always make lists, make calculations, make every minute spent well and organize everything untidy in her path. Qualities of a one tough future mother to beat. She is so committed to what she does that she follows a diet, doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, just a straight A lifestyle. Surely her future kids are going to be just the same. When she wants something, she put her heart, mind and soul to it. She is so driven, determined, smart, and brave. She sets goals and she reaches for it. She is always so sure of her decision. And that being said, her decision to become Bricklin's wife is pure, certain and forever. ”

People often say that fate is what brings people together; that somehow the universe has a way of drawing and connecting us all to the ones with whom we are meant to be. You know, that thing called destiny. As hopeless romantics, Claire and Bricklin both believed it. Even before they met each other, Bricklin had always believed that the only way he could settle down is with someone that was so special he wouldn’t be able to imagine any other reality. At least, he had believed that. After years of continuous waiting, and several failed meant-to-bes, Bricklin almost gave up and considered believing in fate as childish and silly. While on the other side of the globe, Claire patiently waits for the right person to come along. But fate has a funny way of working itself out. It doesn’t work on your time or their time. It only knows when it needs to happen and how. That is where Claire and Bricklin meet. Two parallel lines finally intersect with each other. Who would have thought that on a random day of opening up Facebook, Bricklin will see a friend request from Claire. Bricklin has been so used to accepting or denying friend requests from people from all over the world, but something drew him to this girl. Who is she? What a fascinating profile picture? He wanted to know more! Bricklin accepted the friend request and to his horror was met with the notification: “Friend Request Sent”. Turned out, Claire did not send him a friend request but is just listed as a “Friend Suggestion”. Embarrassed, Bricklin sent Claire a message explaining himself and to his relief was met with nothing but a welcoming friendly message. They talked for what seemed like hours, just going back and forth, sharing experiences and stories. Talking to someone had never felt so natural, as it was talking to each other. They joked with each other, praised each other, mocked each other and felt for each other. Days turned weeks, weeks to months and they steadily grew fond of each other. Bricklin then realizes he is falling for Claire. He had felt the urge to tell Claire about his feelings but was afraid of what they meant, or what might happen. He had never met this girl in person, and yet felt so strongly that she was someone special, someone that was sent to him when the time was right. He called her one night and told her how he felt. Claire was hesitant, understandably, to reciprocate. So Bricklin booked a flight to the Philippines. Not just to meet the girl of his dreams but to finally believe in fate again.
Bricklin landed for the first time in Manila and was picked up from the airport by Claire. Their first encounter was something you couldn’t understand unless you had lived it. Nervous yet excited. Hearts were both beating fast for something very surreal. Out of their minds they rushed to each other’s arms and embraced. It was magical. That feeling when fate finally decides to caught up with you. It was perfect. Claire had set up their first date for that very night. Without letting Bricklin settle in to their hotel, she drove him straight to the restaurant where they sat and ate and laughed together. In person, it was amazing, two people from completely two different world. Suddenly, things seem to be no good at all; they were better. Claire had bought a cake to celebrate the occasion and insisted on bringing it to dinner. The restaurant's guard insisted to leave the cake behind before being seated, as it was against policy to allow outside food but Claire being the determined Claire, wouldn’t take no for an answer. Bricklin, on the other hand, couldn’t understand why it was so important for Claire to bring the cake inside but just went along with it. In the end, not only did Claire managed to persuade the security to let the cake be brought inside, but also managed to get their waiters to cut the cake and bring it out to them. Bricklin was struck when he saw what was written on the cake in icing: “I love you too”. Bricklin’s eyes filled with tears of joy as the confirmation on the cake was more than he could take at the moment. They sat back and laughed and ate until the night was gone…
Bricklin knew this trip was the moment he wanted to take the relationship to the next level. He had purchased a ring before the trip and waited for the perfect time to pop the question. He had plans to do it when the two of them, along with their friends were at Hong Kong Disneyland, but awoke to the storm of a lifetime that ultimately put a damper on the Disneyland trip. Now forced to improvise, Bricklin looked for a good chance. Many opportunities came and went but none stood out as times nor locations worthy for such a moment. The weeks went by and the trip was coming to a close when the group of friends decided to take an impromptu day trip to a nearby waterfall and swimming area. Bricklin was struck by the significance of this small yet beautiful oasis. It hit him like a truck, the realization that this was the place he would do it. He asked his friends to take a plunge off the waterfall and into the pool to help build his adrenaline. After doing so, Bricklin made up an excuse to go back to the car to grab the ring. He carried it down and planned to have his friends suggest a photo session with all the couples in front of the waterfall. When it was his and Claire’s turn, he took a knee and asked her if she would marry him. The oasis filled with cheers and applause as friends and onlookers alike were filled with delight in sharing the moment. It was more than Bricklin could ever imagine for one of the biggest moments of his life.
So there you have it, these two experienced so many hardships and yet felt so much love as they worked together for this moment, this day that they could finally be together forever. No more greetings and better still, no more goodbyes.
